Description
North Lodge at Babington Hospital is a small, single-storey stone lodge built around 1838, although it does not appear on the Belper Tithe Map of 1844. It is attributed to the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and was designed as a workhouse for the Belper Union. The lodge is in the Jacobean style, featuring slate roofing and coped gables. The eastern facade facing the road includes a three-light leaded window with mullions and a door leading to the drive. There is also a stone chimney on the building.
