Description

No. 17 Stapleford Road is a cottage dating from the late 17th century to the 18th century, with later alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone, featuring a red brick first floor and a Welsh slate roof with a brick central ridge. The roof has projecting stacks at the left end and a truncated stack at the right end. The cottage is two storeys high and has two sets of 2-light casements on the upper floor, with an additional 3-light casement to the left on the ground floor. There is a central porch with a door, and a 2-light window is located on the right end. Inside, there are beams, and thatch is said to remain beneath the slate roof. The cottage is included for its group value.
