Description

Harborough Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1850. It was originally built for the Earl of Harborough in Cottage Plantation, near Stapleford Park, but was subsequently dismantled and rebuilt on its present site around 1860. The cottage is constructed from coursed rubble stone with a plinth, stone dressings, timber framing with red brick nogging, and a Collyweston slate roof with left ridge and rear ashlar stacks. It has a gable to the left. The windows are mullion and transom style with hood moulds. A stone gabled porch with a Tudor arch and door sits in the gable, above which is a three-light window. To the right is a four-light window with a section of projecting timber framing above. On the left end are a three-light window, a further porch, and a small gable with a two-light window. On the right end are a three-light window, a door, and a two-light window, with a canted, five-light wooden oriel within a timber-framed gable above. The interior is not described in the listing.
