Description

Lapwing House is a house with an attached outbuilding, converted to office use, dating to 1744. The date is recorded on a tablet on the building. The house is constructed of ironstone ashlar, with a concrete tile roof, a coped gable to the left, and brick chimneys. It has two storeys and four bays. The windows are mostly twentieth-century wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, generally 2-light, with a 3-light window on the ground floor to the left. A board door, set within a wooden architrave frame and approached by two twentieth-century concrete steps, is situated in the third bay. All ground floor openings are topped with flat stone arches. A twentieth-century extension has been added to the right, covering a cart entry leading to the rear yard. Attached to the right of this extension is an office built of coursed rubble stone, with a concrete tile roof and a coped gable to the right. The office features a glazed vent slit and a tall, three-light transomed window on the right side, along with steps leading up to the left-hand door.
