Description
No. 72 on Main Street is a house built in the late 18th to early 19th century, with a later 19th-century extension at the back. The building is constructed from dressed and coursed ironstone, featuring Uppingham stone quoins. It has a Welsh slate roof with coped gables, moulded kneelers, and red brick chimneys. The house is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with two bays on the front. There is a projecting plinth, and the front features paired wooden casements that were added later, with Uppingham stone lintels and sills. The ground floor windows are transomed and include keyblocks, with the left one being moulded. The central entrance has a four-panelled door topped by a marginally glazed fanlight, a stone lintel, and three canted concrete steps. At the back, there is a single bay, two-storey extension, along with a 20th-century conservatory on the right side. This building is included for its group value.
