Description
This is a house located at 56 Main Street, dating from the early 18th century and altered over time. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with the front gable faced in ashlar and featuring Uppingham stone quoins and a chamfered plinth. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has a coped gable at the front, with remnants of ogee half-pendants on the kneelers. There are brick chimneys on the gables. The house is positioned at right angles to the road and consists of one storey and an attic, with two bays.
The gable facing the road includes flush sill string and lintel bands made of Uppingham stone, and features 20th-century wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above. There is a keyblock above the lower window. The left side has a similar three-light window and a small single light window in the far bay, while the right side has a 20th-century door set in a 20th-century wooden porch at the far bay. There is also a later lean-to extension at the far end.
