Description

Appletree Cottage is a small house dating to the 17th century, with later alterations and a 20th-century extension to the rear. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble with a Collyweston slate roof, featuring coped gables with moulded kneelers—the kneeler on the left has been renewed—and brick chimneys. The house is one storey and attic, with two bays. The 20th-century windows are paired and barred, with those on the ground floor set within original chamfered surrounds of Uppingham stone, which have quadrant cornices and dropped sills. Upper windows are located within gabled dormers in the eaves. A small, rectangular window is present on the ground floor to the left. A narrow, 20th-century flat-roofed extension with a door and hipped porch adjoins the left side. A later stone wing and a 20th-century flat-roofed brick extension are located at the rear.
