Description
Westhill Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with Uppingham stone dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with flanking brick chimneys. The building has two storeys and four bays. There is a flush band course at the first floor level, and the eaves are slightly raised above the former thatch line.
On the first floor, there are paired wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars and shaped lintels. The ground floor features similar 3-light wooden casements in the second and fourth bays, which have flat lintels and keyblocks. All windows are surrounded by Uppingham stone. The third bay contains a top-lit flush-panelled door set within an eared and shouldered architrave surround, complete with a moulded keyblock. To the left of this door, there is a 2-light wooden casement in a blocked doorway, which has a similar surround.
