Description

Old Prebendal House is a late 17th-century house constructed of coursed rubble stone, featuring quoins, a plinth, stone dressings, a first-floor band, a modillion cornice, and a hipped Collyweston slate roof with moulded stone valley stacks. The entrance front faces to the right towards the Churchyard of St. Peter and consists of 2½ storeys with three 6/6 sash windows set in moulded stone frames, each adorned with triple keystones. The central entrance is a part-glazed door. There are also three 2-light hipped dormers. To the left, there is a two-storey wing that has a 3-light casement window on both floors and a moulded stone stack. The principal or garden front, which faces the rear, features six 6/6 sash windows in similar frames. On the ground floor, there are four similar sash windows and a central part-glazed door accessed by four stone steps, along with three 2-light hipped dormers. Inside, there is a room with early 18th-century panelling, which includes large and small panels, some with bolection moulding, and a re-sited staircase from the same period.
