Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating from the 17th to 18th century, constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins and a Collyweston slate roof. It features three ridge stacks and two end truncated stone stacks. The entrance is located at the rear, with a door set in the second span to the left, which projects forward. This section of the house is possibly the earlier part. The building has 2½ storeys and is adorned with eight 2-light windows, primarily casement types, with wooden lintels and some stone sills.

On the ground floor of the left section, there are windows on either side of a 18th-century wooden doorcase with a pediment and pilasters. The doorcase features horizontal sliding sashes. There is also one 2-light window on the second span of the right return. The right section has five ground floor 2-light windows and a glazed door. On the left end, there is a 3/3 sash window on the first floor.

The rear of the building, which faces the road and is close to the church, includes, from left to right, two 2-light and two 3/3 sash windows on the first floor, along with a ground floor featuring a 2-light window, two 1-light windows, and three 3/3 sash windows. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase and six-panelled doors. An outbuilding with a pantile roof is linked to the house by walling and faces the churchyard, featuring three blocked openings with stone dressings, keystones, and cambered lintels. The Old Rectory, the barn, and the church form a notable group.
