Description

No. 8, Blacksmiths Lane is an early 18th-century terraced cottage that may originally have been two or three dwellings. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone or ironstone rubble with a stone-tiled roof. It is tall, with 1½ storeys. The facade has been significantly altered, featuring two blocked doorways, new dormers, and a central doorway. Two renewed casement windows are located on each side. There's evidence of two phases of construction, visible as a straight joint and differing wall construction. The property holds group value and is included on the list for that reason.
