Description

Barham Court, a large house built around 1820, originally served as a vicarage. It is constructed of coursed stone with paler ashlar dressings, highlighted by a deep string course, a parapetted eaves cornice, and angle quoins. The house is two storeys high with three dormers providing access to attics. It has seven bays arranged as 2-3-2, with the central three bays projecting. The main entrance is a six-panelled door with an overlight, set beneath a slightly cambered head and located immediately left of the projecting bays. Windows are twelve-light sash windows with plain architraves. The roof is unusual, comprising a main ridge and two projecting gables, one on each side over the outer two bays, plus a hipped central gable, all recessed behind a parapet. The house features an axial stack and two gable stacks constructed of moulded and chamfered stone.
