Description
No 4 Hope's Yard is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a Collyweston stone slate roof with coped gables and brick end stacks. The building is arranged in an L-plan, with a rear wing that is painted white. It has two storeys and modern doors on the north side and at the angle of the L. The windows are mostly small casement types with glazing bars. There is a 20th-century brick buttress on the south side. Inside, the first floor boasts a very fine jowled stone fireplace, which has a four-centred arch with moulded stops set in a square surround, topped with a cornice.
