Description
No 12 North Street is a house dating from 1587 and the early 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of brick that has been rendered and painted, topped with pan-tile roofs featuring raised and coped gables with moulded kneelers. It has a ridge and two gable stacks and follows a T-plan layout. The rear section, which is from the 16th century, has a three-bay range, while the later front range has two bays. The house is two stories tall.
The street-facing side features two 20th-century casement windows and two smaller similar casements above. The side front includes two plank doors and a 20th-century casement, along with a single similar window above. Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressummer and a small salt cupboard door inscribed with the year 1587. The rear section contains chamfered spine beams and a small staircase with turned balusters. Some raised and fielded panel doors are still present, and much of the roof structure remains intact.
