Description
Nos. 6, 8, 10, and 10A on King's Walk, along with No. 9 Forman Street, are shops and offices dating from around 1800 and 1840, with alterations made in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs.
To the right is a converted house that stands three storeys high with attics, showcasing a wooden cornice with dentils. The late 20th-century shopfront is present at the ground level, while above it are two glazing bar sash windows on each floor, all featuring wedge lintels and keystones. The attic includes two box dormers.
Further to the right is another converted house, also three storeys with attics and a five-window range. This building has sill bands on each floor and a modillion cornice with breaks. It also has late 20th-century shopfronts, with the right one displaying rusticated pilasters. Above the shopfronts are five glazing bar sash windows on each floor, again with wedge lintels and keystones, and the attic features five restored segment-arched box dormers.
The return to Forman Street includes a pedimented gable that contains a pedimented casement. The ground floor has a shopfront, with two windows on each floor, three of which are blank. Above is a small triangular-headed two-light casement in the gable. These buildings are part of a larger development that includes the east and west sides of King's Walk.
