Description

No. 3 Darker Street is a hosier's house and hosiery workshops built around 1850. The building is constructed from red brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a slate half-hipped roof with a single gable stack.

The house is three stories tall and has three bays. It has a central doorway with a single panel door and overlight, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows, all featuring wedge lintels. To the right of the main entrance is a small doorway. Above this, there is a narrow glazing bar sash window with broader flanking similar sashes, all with wedge lintels. Above again, there is a small narrow glazing bar sash with flanking broader small similar sashes.

To the left, there is a single-storey workshop addition with a glazed roof and a three-light casement window. The Blake Street front has a single bay with a glazed door and a glazing bar overlight, and above it, there is a single glazing bar sash window, both with wedge lintels. Above again, there is a small glazing bar sash window.

The hosiery workshops are two stories tall and have four bays. The Blake Street front features four workshop windows and a doorway to the left, with four three-light workshop windows above. To the left, there is a single bay gabled addition with a two-light casement window on each floor.
