Description
This building is a large five-storey warehouse located to the rear of No 66 Church Gate, dating from around the 1830s. It features a five-bay design with a timber-framed structure that is weatherboarded, while the ground and first floors are constructed of brick. The gable-ended roof is slated and has an overhang of about three feet at the eaves, which is supported by timber braces that extend through the fourth floor walls. These braces butt against a series of massive timber supports that project through the external walls on the second floor, resembling flying buttresses. The second, third, and fourth floors have horizontal-pivot windows with glazing bars. Additionally, there are later brick extensions on the ground and first floors on both the north and south sides.
