Description
Two houses, built in the early 19th century and later altered in the late 19th and 20th centuries, now used as workrooms. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof with two gable stacks. It features a chamfered and ramped ashlar plinth. The design is of four storeys with a 5:1 window arrangement. On the ground floor, to the left is a blocked door flanked by reglazed cross casements. To the right are a cross casement, a blocked door, and a mid-19th century panelled door with an overlight. Above the ground floor are six original sash windows with glazing bars. Above these are six reglazed windows. All windows on these floors have painted wedge lintels with keystones. The third floor contains six smaller sash windows with glazing bars. The building’s appearance illustrates the shift in the Lace Market area from residential to commercial use.
