Description
BOWLING GREEN STREET 1. 5304 No 8 SK 5804 SE 3/217 II 2. Dated 1865. Gothic style. Red brickwith ashlar dressings. Steep-pitched slate roof with crenellated chimney stacks at ends. Two storeys. Centre: carved stone foliage eaves cornice, three windows, first floor two-light gothic pointed arch windows with plate tracery, shafts with carved capitals, deep band at first floor level, ground floor large four-light stone mullion/ transom windows with cusped ogee-head lights, plain brick buttress between. To left: slight projection, gabled, three storeys, one window, two-light gothic windows, ground and second floor cusped heads, first floor carved tympanum. Right: slight projection in ashlar with pyramidal roof, ground floor large high-pointed-arch entrance with carved mouldings and double order of shafts, original doors with richly carved panels of foliage, first floor finely carved stone splayed bay window on moulded and carved corbel, shouldered headed lights and carving between, carved foliage to cornice and stone roof. Above head of blind arch containing date and crockets to drip mould with finial - flanked by cusped circular recesses. Area railings missing except for heavy ornate cast-iron gate and piers to right of entrance.
