Description
No. 53 Northampton Road is a building dating from 1868. It is constructed of red brick featuring geometric designs in blue brick, with stone dressings. The roof is covered in green and blue banded slates, and it has large paired chimneys with stone capped plinths. The facade is asymmetrical and includes four gables with stone kneelers, with the outer two gables being more prominent. The building is generally two storeys high, but the northern bay is a single storey that aligns with the same roof line.
The northern window consists of four lights with stone mullions and transoms, with the centre two lights being taller. The central two windows at the first floor level are similar, all featuring moulded stone architraves. The remaining windows are either two or three lights each, with flat arches, plain stone architraves, and stone mullions. There is an off-centre gabled porch with a Gothic door that has a dripstone mould, which is approached by a flight of steps.
