Description
99 Friar Gate is a mid-18th century mansion that stands three storeys tall with a basement. It features a moulded plinth and five sash windows, each with moulded dog-eared frames and small triple keyblocks. The centre of the building projects forward, and it is topped with a moulded stone cornice and a brick parapet. The entrance boasts an impressive Tuscan doorcase with engaged columns, a round-headed arch above the door that includes a keyblock, a traceried fanlight, and a six-panelled door, accessed by 14 stone steps. To the left, there is an additional three-storey, two-window wing that includes a rusticated coach arch, a window with a small keyblock, and a modern door.
