Description

28 Friar Gate is a mid-18th century building constructed of red brick. It stands three storeys high and features three sash windows, each with flat brick arches. The building has a stone plinth and a painted stone doorcase located on the right side, which includes a moulded pediment supported by consoles. Above the door, there is a traceried fanlight set in a rectangular frame with decorative ornamentation in the spandrels, leading to a six-fielded-panelled door. The roof is modern and covered with tiles, while a small modillion eaves cornice extends over the adjoining house on the right side. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 27 to 32, the Friar Gate Railway Bridge, and Nos 35 to 51 on Friar Gate.
