Description

The Friar Gate Railway Bridge, built in 1878 by Andrew Handyside and Co, Ironfounders of Derby, features stone abutments and a segmental arch over the roadway. The bridge is adorned with very delicate cast iron ornamentation in the spandrels and along the balustrade. It is part of a group that includes Nos 27 to 32, Nos 35 to 39, and Nos 41 to 51 on Friar Gate, as well as No 47 on Ford Street.
