Description

The Art Gallery, built in 1883 and designed by Story of Derby, is a two-storey building made of red brick with stone dressings. The façade features bays that are defined by plain pilasters, each bay containing semi-circular headed recesses with eight-light stone mullion and transom windows at the ground level, topped with broken pediments. To the left, there is an arched doorway flanked by pilasters, a frieze, and a modillion cornice, which is above a shallow five-light oriel window on the first storey. The building also has a moulded stone band, plinth, and eaves.
