Description
This is a mile post located approximately 110 metres north of the junction with Moor Lane, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It features a cast-iron front in a triangular shape that is attached to a round-topped ashlar sandstone back. The left side of the post indicates "DONCASTER/13 MILES," while the right side lists distances to various locations: "BOROBRIDGE/31 MILES/WETHERBY/18 1/2 MILES/LEEDS/14 1/2 MILES/ABERFORD/11 1/2 MILES/PONTEFRACT/1 1/2 MILES." The top of the post reads "BARNSDALE & LEEDS/ROAD/CARLETON." Additionally, the sloping triangular top displays the makers' names, "BRAYSHAW & BOOTH/MAKERS/LIVERSEDGE."
