Description
Chevet Gates Lodge is a Grade II listed building located on Chevet Lodge Lane. It was built in the early 19th century as a lodge for the now-demolished Chevet Hall. The lodge is constructed of ashlar stone and features a Welsh blue-slate roof. It is a single-storey structure with a symmetrical design, comprising three bays across and three bays deep.
The outer bays are adorned with 12-pane sash windows, each with recessed panels above, and are flanked by engaged Tuscan columns. The central bay and the corners also feature engaged Tuscan columns in anta. A frieze and cornice lead to a blocking course that is topped with the Pilkington coat-of-arms, which is supported by carved brackets on either side. The roof is hipped, with an ashlar chimney stack located on the rear pitch.
On the left side of the lodge, there is a simple sash window to the left and a doorway to the right, both of which have recessed panels above and are separated by four Tuscan pilasters. The corners also have two Tuscan pilasters. The right side has similar window features but includes a mid-20th century extension that is not in keeping with the original design, attached to the third bay.
