Description
70 and 72 Potternewton Lane is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one house. They date from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The exterior is made of coursed squared gritstone, featuring a grey concrete tile roof at the front and a slate roof at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with a straight join between the first and second bays. There is a 20th-century door on the right, which has a plain lintel, and long and short quoins. The centre bay features a two-storey canted bay window, with 20th-century window frames on the ground floor to the left and on the first floor to the left and right, all with plain sills and lintels. The ground floor walling of bay 1 is made of thin stone slates, which may indicate a blocked access route from the road behind. A large square ridge stack is located to the left of centre, positioned against the straight wall join. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
