Description

The gateway to Chapel Allerton Old Graveyard is an early 19th-century structure located on Harrogate Road in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. It features ashlar and coursed stone, along with wrought iron elements. The gateway is approximately 10 meters wide and consists of a stone wall topped with heavy moulding and ashlar coping that steps down below the railings, which are adorned with spearhead finials. The thickened standards create gate piers, and the double gates are fitted with bars and dog bars, also featuring spearhead finials. This old churchyard is situated at the historic core of the village and contains significant graves.
