Description
2 Boroughgate is a building with origins in the 18th century. It has two storeys constructed of stone and features a stone slate roof. The façade includes three windows with stone architraves, which have been fitted with later hung sashes. On the ground floor, there is one similar window along with plain doors and a rectangular fanlight, all framed by a stone architrave.
The building also has an early 20th century public house window that consists of four arcaded lights, along with a fascia and cornice. To the left, there is a plain passage entry. A stone string course runs along the cills of the two left-hand windows on the first floor, and there is an eaves cornice with a small parapet on the left-hand section. The right side features a stone-coped gable end, complete with a kneeler and a moulded stone stack.
2 Boroughgate is part of a group with Nos 2 to 8 (even) and Nos 16 to 20 (even) Market Place.
