Description

No 4 Cross Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and has been altered. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. It is constructed of coursed, dressed gritstone and features a Welsh slate roof. There is a plinth at the base. Stone steps lead up to a glazed door on the right, which has a blind overlight and a wedge lintel. To the left, there is an enlarged opening with a 20th-century bowed casement window that includes glazing bars in the reveals. On the first floor, there are 16-pane sash windows with projecting stone sills, all set under wedge lintels. The building has paired wooden gutter brackets, and there is a rendered brick stack at the right end, while a tall stone stack at the left end is shared with the adjacent premises, No 6. This building is included for its group value.
