Description

27 and 29 Victoria Road are a pair of houses built around 1840, possibly by John Clark. They feature an ashlar facade with brick side walls and a slate roof. The houses are two stories high with a basement and an inserted attic, forming a mirror pair that is six windows wide. The central doorways are accessed by steps with wrought-iron balustrades, set back in a wide recess supported by two unfluted, baseless Doric columns in antis, with a basement passage doorway located between them. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, with the ground floor windows consisting of five panes by three panes, and they have plain sills and lintels. There are end multiflue stacks. The interior has not been inspected. This block is depicted on the 1850 Ordnance Survey map and is prominently located opposite the entrance to Rose Court on Headingley Lane, sharing a similar architectural style.
