Description
The Baptist Sunday School and attached house, dated 1864 above the doorway, is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a slate roof. It features a rectangular plan and is a single-storey building with six bays. The entrance front is located in the north gable wall and includes a round-headed doorway with double doors and a fanlight. Above the doorway, there is a datestone inscribed "BAPTIST SABBATH SCHOOL 1864." The building has a gable chimney, and the sides are adorned with round-headed windows containing nine panes and fanlights with radiating glazing bars; however, the windows on the west side were partly boarded at the time of the survey in 1986.
Attached to the south end of the school is a two-storey house with two bays, facing south. This house features an arched doorway leading to a recessed porch, with rusticated long-and-short quoins around the arch. It has two round-headed windows on the first floor that match the glazing of the school. The south front of the house has two segmental-headed sash windows on each floor, along with gable chimneys and gable copings. There is also a single-storey, two-bay extension to the left, which has similar windows.
