Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with 19th-century additions. It is constructed of handmade red brick in stretcher bond and features a stone slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a shallow double-depth and a rear wing. The 19th-century wing is located to the left. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays, which are mostly symmetrical except for the added wing. The pedimented center of the facade slightly projects forward and includes a segmental-headed doorway with a six-panel door, where the upper panels are glazed. There are two windows on the ground floor and three above, as well as one window on each floor of the gabled left wing. All windows are boxed 8-pane sashes with unusual horizontal-rectangular panes. The roof is hipped, and there is a chimney at the left end of the main range.
At the rear, there is a gabled 1.5-storey dairy wing with mostly altered openings, including a blocked round-headed window on the first floor. The rear wall of the main range features segmental-headed cross-windows with small panes and horizontal sliding sashes in one light. Both parts of the building have a stone band.
Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with a closed string and a ramped handrail, as well as a panelled wig-room on the first floor.
