Description
The Club House is a building that originally served as a school with an integral master's house, now functioning as a parish centre. It dates from the early to mid 19th century and has been altered over time. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. It has an H-plan layout and is primarily a single-storey building, except for the master's house in the right crosswing, which is two storeys tall and matches the height of the main building.
Architecturally, the Club House is designed in a Gothic style and has a symmetrical appearance. The main range has three bays with a small lean-to in the centre. Each side of the centre features a window with three narrow cusped lights. At the angle with the right wing, there is a buttressed porch that includes a moulded arched doorway and an ogival gable, which is topped with a crocket. The gable of the left wing has mullioned windows with three lights on the ground floor and two lights above, both of which have cusped recesses in the lintels over the lights. The rear of the building has been altered, and the interior was undergoing renovation or alteration at the time of the survey in 1986.
