Description
The tall block behind the front tower at Wellington Mills dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a double-pitched stone slate roof. The gables are coped, with the coping extending across the valley to form a parapet. The building stands five storeys high and has stone brackets supporting the gutter. There are twelve ranges of sash windows, which are interrupted by the tower; the ground floor windows are round-arched and adorned with vermiculated voussoirs, while there are four ranges of windows on the end elevations. The tower is taller than the front tower and is also made of hammer-dressed stone, featuring a flat top, a moulded cornice supported by large brackets, a blocking course, and string courses. Each side of the tower has three round-arched lancets.
