Description
59 Quarmby Fold is a 16th-century building that forms part of Quarmby Hall. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof. The front gable has coping on cut kneelers. There is a prominent 6-light stone mullioned and transomed window with casements, which has chamfered mullions set in double chamfered reveals, along with a hoodmould. Additionally, there is a 7-light stone mullioned and transomed window with similar features. To the left, in the re-entrant angle between Nos 49 and 59, there is a bay with a moulded plinth and string, and a casement window on the first floor, with a modern window below. Historically, Quarmby Hall was the residence of Hugh de Quarmby, a key figure in the notable Elland feud during the 14th century.
