Description

Holly Bank is a mid-19th century ashlar-built house situated on Haughs Road, Quarmby. The house has a hipped roof covered in stone slate, and features a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. Rusticated quoins mark the corners. There are four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars and moulded surrounds; one range projects forward and is topped with a pediment-shaped acroterion featuring alternately vermiculated voussoirs. The front door has four moulded panels and an oblong fanlight, accompanied by Ionic pilasters, a full entablature, and a pediment-shaped blocking course adorned with a sculpted wreath. On the ground floor, two bays are present: one is a late 19th-century timber bay, and the other is a canted bay with Tuscan piers, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course featuring a sculpted wreath.
