Description
Bowser is a late 18th century to early 19th century building that comprises two houses and a barn. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features quoins, large plinth stones, and lower courses. A thin continuous string course runs above the ground floor windows, and the building is topped with a pitched stone slate roof and has two stacks.
The south elevation includes a cottage on the east side with a ground floor entrance that has stone surrounds, along with a three-light stone mullioned window. On the first floor, there is a former eight-light stone mullioned window, although the lights at each end are now blocked. The north elevation features a lean-to extension of similar age, which has a catslide roof. The cottage on the west side also has a ground floor entrance with stone surrounds and a three-light stone mullioned window, with a former seven-light stone mullioned window above, where one light is blocked at each end.
The barn has a small entrance with stone surrounds, ties, and an arched lintel, and its west gable includes a small vent in the gable apex.
