Description

The overflow at Butterley Reservoir, located in Marsden, was built between 1891 and 1906 by T. & C. Hawksley and Co. It is constructed from rock-faced coursed stone with ashlar dressings. The overflow features stone weirs and stepped stone cascades. The sidewalls are made of rock-faced stone, supported by squared ashlar piers topped with moulded pyramidal copings. The copings on the walls are also stepped.
