Description

This is a pair of late 18th-century houses located on Well Lane Head, Marsden. The houses are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with quoins. The north elevation is rendered and painted, while the south elevation and gables are painted. The roofs are covered with stone slate.

The south elevation has a modern porch for the entrance. To the right of the porch is a four-light stone mullioned window, from which two mullions have been removed. Adjacent to this is a three-light stone mullioned window, also lacking its original mullions. To the east is a window that may have originally been a six-light mullioned window with a King mullion; it has been altered to appear as a four-light window. On the first floor, a ten-light stone mullioned window has four central lights blocked. Beside it is a two-light stone mullioned window, which may have been altered. There is also a later, single-light window. The north elevation features a recessed two-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The west gable has a later single light, and the east gable includes a single-storey, pitched-roof extension with a doorway set in a stone surround and a later single light window. To the east of this extension is a later stone outbuilding which is not included in the listing.
