Description

This is a late 18th-century farmhouse, likely with earlier 18th-century origins, originally comprising two dwellings and a cottage. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with coursed rubble, quoins, and a pitched stone slate roof. Stone brackets are visible at the northeast end. The southeast elevation includes a doorway with stone surrounds and tie-stones and a deep lintel, alongside a partially blocked doorway with a similar stone surround. Several stone mullioned windows are present, with some having had mullions removed. For example, two windows retain four lights each (with two mullions removed), one window has three lights (with one mullion removed), an 8-light window, and a 5-light window. The northwest elevation features a back face directly to the earth, as well as a lean-to extension and a 3-light mullioned window with a double chamfer. The southwest gable has two 2-light stone mullioned windows. The northeast gable exhibits stepped water tabling over the roof of the adjoining cottage. The adjoining cottage has undergone some rebuilding and includes an entrance with a stone surround, an enlarged window opening, an enlarged window retaining 3 stone mullions, and a small lean-to extension to the northeast.
