Description

12 and 14 Badger Gate, off Golcar Brow Road, are two houses that originally formed a single residence known as Golcar Hall. The building dates from the early 18th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. It is constructed of thinly coursed rubble with quoins. The roof is covered with stone slate, featuring gable copings and cut kneelers. There are two ashlar chimney stacks, each topped with a cap. The building is two storeys high. The original doorway is now within a later stone porch, which itself has a single light window above it. To the left of the porch, there are two bays of double-chamfered windows; one is a 3-light window, and the other is a 4-light window. To the right of the porch is a single bay with a 3-light 19th-century window, with a further single light window placed to the right. Later openings are visible in the right gable.
