Description

GOLTHO HALL is a house that dates from the mid-18th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick, with some ashlar stonework, and features pantile roofs that include two gable stacks and a single ridge stack.

The east front, which was modified in the mid-19th century, has two storeys and consists of four main bays, two additional bays set back to the right, and a single low bay to the left. On the left side, there is a doorway with a round head, a raised keystone, a rectangular brick hood mould, and double panelled doors. The inner doorway has a traceried fanlight and a panelled door. To the right of the doorway, there are three glazing bar sash windows, with four additional glazing bar sashes above, all featuring segmental heads and rectangular brick hood moulds. A plain parapet sits above these windows. The left-hand bay has a plain sash window, with another plain sash above, both with segmental heads and rectangular hood moulds. There is also a garage door to the right, which has two narrow glazing bar sashes above, each with brick hood moulds.

A late 19th-century extension is located to the south, featuring a plinth and two long doorways with double glazed doors, along with two glazing bar sashes above, all supported by ashlar wedge lintels. The west side of the house includes a canted bay window with a pair of plain sashes flanked by single narrow plain sashes, all with ashlar wedge lintels and a decorated brick band above.

To the left, there are two projecting bays from the 18th century, which have a plinth and two 19th-century glazing bar sashes, with two additional glazing bar sashes above, all with ashlar wedge lintels. There is a six-bay range from the 18th century set back to the left, featuring a plinth and a single glazing bar sash to the right with a segmental head. To the left, there is a three-light casement window with a segmental head, leading to a 20th-century gabled porch that has a segmental-headed opening and an inner partially glazed door. Another three-light casement window with a segmental head is located further left, with six glazing bar sashes above, all featuring segmental heads. The 18th-century brickwork is likely remnants of the early 18th-century hall.
