Description

The Turnor Arms Hotel is an early 19th-century hotel, with alterations from the early 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with rendered and painted ashlar dressings, and has hipped slate roofs with a central ridge stack, hip stacks, and two stacks to the rear. The building has a T-shaped plan and a three-storey, five-bay front, with the central bay projecting slightly and a plinth. A 20th-century doorway has been inserted into a central carriage archway, featuring broad pilasters, imposts, and a segmental head. The doorway is topped with a large overlight that fills the head of the carriage arch, with narrow panelled lights and partially glazed double doors flanking the entrance. A Venetian window is located to the left, with a round-headed glazing bar sash flanked by single, narrow glazing bar sashes with flat heads. Two glazing bar sashes are positioned to the right of the carriage archway, both with segmental heads. Above, there are five glazing bar sashes, all with segmental heads, and five casements.
