Description

The front boundary wall, gate piers, and gates to the infant school date from around 1870 and are likely designed by Walter Hanstock. The wall is made of pitched faced stone and features three pairs of intricately carved ashlar gate piers topped with well-moulded caps. The central iron gates bear the inscription: "BATLEY BOARD SCHOOLS." This structure is listed primarily for its group value.
