Boundary Walls Railings And Outbuilding At Bole Hill Primary School

The boundary walls, railings, and attached outbuilding at Bole Hill Primary School were built in 1896, likely designed by WJ Hale for the Sheffield School Board. They are constructed from coursed squared stone and feature wrought-iron railings and gates. The walls and railings enclose the school and the caretaker's house. In front of the house, there is a wall topped with triangular stone coping and a small gateway to the right. On either side of this entrance, there are pairs of rock-faced stone gate piers with moulded ashlar caps and pairs of gates. Further along to the right, the outer boundary wall, approximately 120 meters long, has triangular stone coping and plain iron railings. Behind this wall is a parallel entrance ramp with ornamented iron railings. At the back of the house, there is a wall bordering the entrance pathway, and the rear boundary wall features an attached open shed with a hipped slate roof supported by iron columns. This structure serves as an ancillary building to Bole Hill Primary School.
