Description

The front boundary wall, railings, gatepiers, and gates to the cemetery in Batley were built around 1866, likely by Walter Hanstock. The structure features two large and four small piers at the entrance to the cemetery. It is constructed from pitched faced stone with ashlar quoins and dressings. The large piers are buttressed and have offsets and gables, topped with foliated finials. Decorative elements include chamfers and trefoils. The boundary wall has raised piers with ashlar copings, and the iron railings and gates are adorned with quatrefoils and fleur-de-lys heads.
