Description

Number 9 on Regent Road is a mid-19th century building constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and a pitched slate roof. It stands two storeys high with attics and features stone brackets at the eaves and a decorative band. The facade includes three ranges of paired sash windows; the westernmost ones on the ground floor are round-arched, adorned with moulded voussoirs and imposts, and flanked by a pier with a Romanesque capital. Above these windows are two ornamental roundels, and the first-floor gable has moulded surrounds, coping, a finial, and an oculus surrounded by incised ornament.

The ground floor has a porch with a moulded cornice and a round-arched door that features a moulded surround, ornamental label stops, and cresting. Above the porch is a single window with a moulded surround. The east window range slightly projects and is topped with a gable, which also has a moulded cornice and finial. There is a canted ground floor bay with a moulded cornice, sash windows with moulded surrounds and segmental heads. The first-floor windows also have moulded surrounds and segmental heads, with plain roundels above them, all framed by a segment-shaped moulded cornice. The attic storey features a round-arched sash window with moulded two-centred voussoirs.
