Description
The centre block and tower at Acre Mills, located on Acre Street in Lindley, date from the early 19th century, with the tower being added in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with coped gables. It stands four storeys tall with attics and has a total of 13 ranges of windows, including four at the ends. The central five ranges are topped with a pediment-shaped gable that includes a Venetian window in the attic. The tower is adorned with a string course and a moulded cornice supported by console-shaped brackets, and it features a crenellated parapet. The front of the tower has round-arched windows, and there is an oculus at attic level.
