Description

This warehouse building, numbers 31 and 33, was constructed around 1870. It is built of dressed stone with ashlar quoins and dressings, and features a vermiculated basement level. The roof is hipped and covered in slate, with a moulded eaves cornice supported by square brackets. The building is three storeys high, plus a basement. A moulded sill band runs across the facade, and there is a heavy moulded cornice above the ground floor.

The main facade is four bays wide by two bays deep, with a further eight plainer bays extending to the left, belonging to the adjoining warehouse. Stone steps lead to two entrances, each featuring double doors set within a round-arched opening with carved spandrels and simple pilaster surrounds. Console brackets support a cornice above the entrances. The ground floor windows are round-arched with two round-arched lights and a circle above, with a central engaged colonnette featuring a foliated capital. The first-floor windows have segmental pediments above round-arched openings, while the second-floor windows are square-headed. Similar detailing is present on the two bays of the return facade to the left.
